Matthew 25 Health and Care has received a $30,000 grant from the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation to support medically trained interpretation services. This funding will help Matthew 25 continue providing high-quality medical and dental care to uninsured, low-income adults across Allen County and 14 surrounding counties. As the clinic serves a diverse and growing patient population, many individuals speak languages not represented among staff and volunteers.

To bridge this gap, Matthew 25 partners with a professional interpretation service offering access to more than 300 languages, including American Sign Language. These interpreters ensure patients can clearly communicate with providers, understand their care, and fully participate in health decisions.

“We are so incredibly grateful for the continued support of the St. Joseph Community Health Foundation,” said Michelle Creager, CEO of Matthew 25 Health and Care. “Their partnership means so much to us and the patients we serve every day. As a long-time supporter, their generosity plays a vital role in sustaining our ability to provide the highest-quality, comprehensive care. This grant helps ensure that every member of our community can receive the care they need, allowing us to deliver the very best care to our patients and strengthening the health of our community.”

Access to trained interpreters also protects patient privacy and improves health outcomes by reducing the risk of miscommunication, errors, and incomplete care.

This grant comes during a milestone year as Matthew 25 celebrates 50 years of serving the Fort Wayne community. Since its founding, the organization has remained committed to caring for those most in need, growing from a small free clinic to the region’s only full-time safety-net health organization.

Today, Matthew 25 provides comprehensive care at no cost and does not accept government or insurance funding. Services include medical, dental, vision, mental health, more than 25 specialty clinics, and free medications, ensuring patients receive compassionate care regardless of their ability to pay. The organization serves the working poor, individuals who are employed but unable to afford healthcare.

Matthew 25 relies on the generosity of donors, partners, and foundations to sustain its mission as it looks ahead to the next 50 years of service. To learn more or support Matthew 25, visit www.matthew25online.orgor call 260-468-0468.
